Tonalità: Db major
Verse 1
F
Once upon a time in this silken world,
long before the dour lords
with their tongues of steam,
there was silence in the hills and valleys,
G
and a web of motionless fruition
F
F
draped the gently trembling mountains.
All else was still save
for the grey waves
F
tugging at the land's hem, him,
F
one endless white cloud hung over the sea
until the horizon merged like milk
at some unknowable point.
In the cave, we find a message
from the past.
Some beautiful man -creature
F
chiseled and daubed the interior
while we were still disparate atoms
scattered all over this earth.
We look at his symbols
and we realize that he, like
us, felt so terribly alone.
F
Outside, the land covered in ice,
F
he hunted a slow, angry animal
that cowered from the flames
snarling.
F
At night, he began to thrust the fatal seeds
into the womb of his woman,
E
F
and warm rain started to fall.
G
F
Newman descends from these people,
but from Newman comes a daughter with
unearthly gifts.
One morning, her mother finds her talking
to the neighborhood cats,
F
which sit around quietly meowing
F
and purring as if in agreement.
One large tabby called Sunpath
G
F
ac tually approaches her after the speech,
F
privately taking her aside
and muttering something in her ear.
F
G
She is also able to charm hornets,
F
wasps
and other insects,
but with her violent temper
F
she sometimes stomps
upon the adoring bugs
E
which gather at her feet.
