people may say could happen.
When I was a student at
Mississippi
State
University,
a traveling man was traveling at
Reform,
Alabama.
He got sick and died.
So a hearse from
Ackerman,
Mississippi with two attendants
went to
Reform to pick him up.
They headed back to
Ackerman and they decided they'd stop
at the truck stop at
Columbus,
Mississippi and
Get them something to eat
They went in and eat and the man paying the check
who was the driver of the hearse
Was paying the check and the other fella
said I'm going on out. I'll see you in a moment
He got out there and I stood a hitchhiker hitchhiker said sir
can I ride with you?
He said ain't no place for you to ride.
It ain't nothing in the
back there except a jump seat
And if you roll back there,
you have to ride with a dead man.
He said I don't care. I need to get
home
I'll ride anywhere. said all right get up in
the back.
It's all right.
So the driver come out then
Got under the steering wheel.
He don't know about
the hitchhiker in the back
He done cranked up that big
Cadillac first and he's cruising
in the still of the night
driving looking at the full moon through
the windshield doing 80 miles an hour
and his hand come through the curtain and
grabbed him by the shoulder and said
buddy is it alright to smoke back here
and the guy just stepped out of the
ambulance just got out.
